POLKO'S BOWL...

..is full of..

avid folllowers of my blog (anyone?) know that this headline tends to crop up randomly when my favourite glass bowl standing on the dining room side cabinet gets filled with something nice.. always food, usually chocolate.

So.. Polko's bowl is currently full of Creme Eggs.

Not for the first time I hear you shout!

No.

But this time the picture is accompanied by this great video that I have been directed to at youtube.  Enjoy!

WHAT A SCORE!

I play Scrabble on facebook (or Lexulous to use it's correct name) and ventured into a random game against a stranger for the first time today...

Thing is, I was handed an amazing first set of tiles that made up an eight letter word (the maximum) that scores double points on the first go usually.  This time though my first word (MALARKEY) extended right out to the end of the board where a triple word score space lies!

134 points in the first go of the game!

I think this is one game I have an advantage in!

Shame it wasn't a game against any friends as I could have impressed them (hence the post here! ha ha)

Let you know how it ends...

TWIT ON TWITTER?

For those that haven't yet found me.. I am now also on Twitter.
Though I must say I am beginning to think it a bad idea, one more account to track, edit, update and check on...

Digital life is hard work!

CENTRE OF THE WORLD...

On a recent trip to America Polko and Mrs Polko found ourselves in the middle of nowhere but at the centre of everywhere. We were on a drive from California to Phoenix, Arizona.

At the Desert Centre Store and Cafe (Interstate 10/highway 60) to be exact..

The road in was long and very atmospheric as we drove through a desert storm..

Then an oasis appeared..

With little sign of life..

But the most amazing retro fuel pumps I've ever seen on my US travels..

Here Mrs Polko tries to hijack the picture with her chicken bag (which strangely seems to pop up wherever we are in the world)..

The road continued, for 160 miles until Wickenburg (a strange sleepy place surrounded by nothing but trailer park towns, but that's a different story for a different day)..

The Desert Center Cafe is in fact responsible for feeding the workers that built the great Californian Desert Aquaduct, bringing water to parts of the west coast that would have been bypassed otherwise. Also, during the Second World War 1 million+ US troops were trained in this area by General Patton.

As the information board says..

OPEN 24 HOURS A DAY
7 DAYS A WEEK
SINCE 1922
WE NEVER CLOSE
